22 weeks: first baby prezzies

22 weeks and counting! I'm showing more and more now, but not as much as I thought... Guess one day I'll just wake up and have a huge bump. Good thing is that I've been feeling much better these days. I can actually cook and not get nauseous... and unlike in my first tri, I have more goals on a daily basis than just to keep my food down and take a shower :)

Our last doctor's appt (July 22) went well.. nothing abnormal going on, so that's a relief. I've made another ultrasound appt since they couldn't check out the baby's spinal cord last time. Shel thinks that the tech made a mistake at our first appt saying that it was a girl and expects them to tell us it's a boy next time... silly man. Although it's highly possible that they made a mistake, the tech seemed super sure it was a girl. So, anyway, we'll see...

We got our first baby prezzies... first was Uncle El who got us a onesie from his trip to Florida over the Indie holidays. Super cute! And this is really the first baby item we've gotten so it's special. Then just yesterday, our friends Joel and Ashley from Tucson gave us a super soft baby blankie from Pottery Barn Kids and a couple of dresses from Jack and Jane. Joel is in town for business and gave us the gifts yesterday... so generous of them! The dresses are adorable.

If ever we had any doubts, getting baby clothes really makes it hit home that we are actually having a baby! And now that we've gotten girly clothes, the baby better be a girl because girly clothes are so sweet... :)

We finally cleared out the soon to be nursery, so we can start decorating it... but, we are not really settled on colors and such. So, hopefully soon, we can decide and make something happen there. So much to do.. :)

20 weeks: What baby movements??

By now I should be feeling lil baby girl move around inside my slow growing belly, but it's just not happening... and if it is, it's not very convincing :(

I'm in my 20th week and supposedly I'll feel more definite movements in the coming weeks, but for now, I should feel some subtle movements at least. Sometimes they say that women mistake movements for gas or other bodily functions. Maybe that's what I'm feeling. Sometimes when my stomach is upset, I have a sneaking suspicion it's her. Oh well, hopefully all is well inside and she's growing to be healthy and strong.

We've signed up for Lamaze classes and I've signed up for prenatal yoga classes, so we're getting the pieces in place for a hopefully smooth delivery in November. Of course, some of the you tube videos I've been watching of women in labor and giving birth aren't helping... actually scaring the crap out of me right now. But I just have to keep reminding myself that this is a natural part of womanhood and I'll get through it...somehow ;-)

July 4th: Bindi and the Kittens

Bindi (lil sis) blew through Austin over the July 4th holiday weekend. She was en route to Houston. She's officially moved from AZ and will be setting out for an adventure to Prague for a year. Can't believe she's actually following through with it... am really excited for her. She'll be getting a certification to teach English and once she's done, if all goes well, she'll land a job there for a while. Will miss her, but she's planning on moving to Austin when she gets back next year!

On the day she was leaving I randomly caught a tender moment between a cat and her little cute kittens. I went to check for something by our front door when I noticed thru the glass, there, on our doorstep, was the darn cat that's been eating our tomatoes, sprawled out with her 3 little kittens suckling her. Then she started licking their faces to clean them.... awh. It was just so freakin cute.

Week 19: It's a Girl!

I've been getting a little bigger day by day, but it's slow going. A random stranger would find it hard to tell I'm pregnant, but there are days I feel huge. I haven't been putting on the pounds yet though, which is good in a way, but not so good for the baby, I'd think.

Today we had an ultrasound appointment. And.... it's a GIRL! I was right and Shel was wrong :) Anyway, we're excited. Baby girl wasn't cooperating too well though since she seemed to be too comfy in one position and didn't want to move to let the tech examine the spinal cord. The tech had me move around a bit and try to get baby girl move but she wouldn't turn over...stubborn like her mama. So, she said that she checked out everything else and that after the radiologist checks the images, they'll send the report to Dr. Cutler and she'll share the results with us. Also said that they'll have me schedule another appt to get the spinal cord examined, but Dr. Cutler will let us know.

They gave us a CD with several images of the ultrasound, but we didn't really get one full image of the baby. There are a couple of the face... baby girl looks a lil scary on the images :) But, I'm sure she's gorgeous. The other images are labeled but it's still hard to tell what we're looking at.
